Montgomery County is no stranger to fostering entrepreneurial spirit, and Nick Scrivens, a Churchill High School (class of 2005) alumnus, is a prime example. His apparel company, Fore Fathers, known for its stylish and dad-centric clothing, has just released a new design that hits close to home– the “Maryland Man” shirt.
Scrivens, who was born and raised Montgomery County, was highlighted by the Washington Post regarding his senior year as the starting quarterback for the Churchill Bulldogs, also noting, “Scrivens is also regarded as one of the area’s best soccer players in his age group and plays on the Bethesda Internationals under-18 team. Freddy Adu is a former teammate and Scrivens considers him a good friend.” In a video unveiling the new shirt, he stated that the new design is a heartfelt tribute to “all the things that make Maryland so beautiful.”
The “Maryland Man” shirt aims to capture the essence of the state, going beyond the typical tourist tropes. As Scrivens elaborated in the video, the design thoughtfully incorporates iconic Maryland elements: “The mountains, the beaches, the community, the people, the food, the crabs, the Old Bay, Susan B. Anthony.” This eclectic mix reflects the diverse landscape, rich history, and beloved cultural touchstones that define Maryland.
Fore Fathers has garnered a loyal following for its comfortable, high-quality apparel with a playful and often relatable dad-focused aesthetic. This new “Maryland Man” shirt taps into a different kind of relatability, a shared pride in the state and its unique identity. It’s a wearable piece of Maryland pride, designed by someone who knows and loves it firsthand.
