Call Your Mother, the DC-based “Jew-ish” deli, is making a return to Bethesda with a new, permanent location downtown at 4828 St. Elmo Ave. The space was most recently home to Hardwood Artisans and was also previously home to Design Eithin Reach and Johnny Rockets.
News of the upcoming opening was first reported by Robert Dyer and comes just months after the company moved its popular “Lil’ Deli” mobile trolley after approximately five years on the corner of Old Georgetown Road and Greentree Rd. to a new home in Riverdale (Prince George’s County).
Since its founding in 2016, Call Your Mother has built a loyal following for its signature wood-fired bagels, which offer a unique hybrid of New York and Montreal styles. The menu features creative bagel sandwiches like the fan-favorite “Royal Palm” with smoked salmon and the “Sun City” with its sweet and spicy kick. The new Bethesda location is expected to offer the full menu of bagels, sandwiches, coffee, and pastries that have made it a regional sensation.
An opening timeframe is not yet available, but a 2026 opening would be a reasonable expectation. For now, hungry fans in Montgomery County can still get their fix at the Call Your Mother location in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose.
