Montgomery County Native Sophie Segreti to Compete on the 49th Season of Survivor

Local audiences will have a compelling reason to tune into the upcoming 49th season of the hit reality show Survivor with the news that Sophie Segreti, a 31-year-old hailing from Darnestown, MD, will be among the castaways vying for the million-dollar prize and the title of Sole Survivor.


A proud graduate of Quince Orchard High School, Segreti was a standout student-athlete (Swimming & Diving). Her dedication and leadership were evident as a two-year team captain and four-year letterwinner. Her athletic prowess extended to four appearances at the Maryland 3A-4A state championships. Segreti’s commitment to her team and her sport was recognized with accolades such as the 2012 team MVP award, the 2011 Coaches Award, and the Team Most Improved Award in 2009. She was also part of the school’s record-holding 200 medley relay team before moving on to Washington University in St. Louis.

Beyond her athletic achievements, Segreti excelled academically at Quince Orchard. She consistently earned Honor Roll recognition throughout her four years and was the recipient of the Scholar-Athlete award. Her commitment to academics was further highlighted by her membership in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and her recognition as a National Merit Scholar commended student and a National AP Scholar, according to her Wash U bio.

Survivor is a long-running reality television show where a group of strangers is marooned in a remote location and divided into tribes. They must compete in challenges for rewards and immunity, and each week, they vote a contestant off the island at a Tribal Council. The final remaining castaway, known as the “Sole Survivor,” wins a $1 million prize. The 49th season of Survivor is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, September 24th, with a special two-hour episode at 8pm on CBS. Subsequent episodes will air in a 90-minute format on Wednesdays.
