Gaithersburg Prepares for 87th Annual Labor Day Parade

The City of Gaithersburg and the Gaithersburg–Washington Grove Fire Department are set to celebrate the unofficial end of summer with the highly anticipated 87th Annual Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 10am. This year, the parade will be emceed by our very own Alex Tsironis, the founder of The MoCo Show. Leading the procession as Grand Marshal will be John Bauer, who serves as the Chair of the Gaithersburg Planning Commission and has been named the 2025 Distinguished Resident.

The parade route will follow East Diamond and Russell Avenues, showcasing a lively array of high school marching bands, dance groups, costumed characters, antique cars and fire engines, equestrian units, and community organizations.

Following the parade, the festivities will continue with a block party from 11am to 12:30pm in the Community Museum parking lot and Olde Towne Plaza. Attendees can enjoy music, food, and inflatables, turning the area into a lively celebration for all ages. Food vendors will be available at Olde Towne Plaza and in the parking lot adjacent to the Gaithersburg–Washington Grove Fire Station.

To ensure a smooth experience for all attendees, ample free parking is available at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, located at 501 Perry Parkway. Complimentary shuttle service will be provided from the fairgrounds to Gaithersburg Elementary School between 8 and 9:30am. The last shuttle bus will depart after the parade at approximately 1:30pm.

Limited free parking is also available in the Olde Towne Parking Garage at the corner of Olde Towne and South Summit Avenues. For those with disability placards or plates, accessible parking will be located behind the Victor Litz store on the north side of Diamond Avenue and behind the Shell station on South Summit Avenue.
For spectators seeking a shady spot to view the parade, the stretch along Russell Avenue is a great option and is accessible by a short walk from the transit station via Odendhal Avenue.

Note: The City of Gaithersburg reminds attendees that the participation of any group or organization in the parade, other than City officials, departments, or committees, does not constitute an endorsement by the City.
