Key September & October Dates for MCPS Students and Families

As the school year gets into full swing, it’s essential for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students, parents, and staff to be aware of important dates that may impact their schedules. This guide highlights key closures and early release days for September and October 2025:

Monday, September 1, 2025– Labor Day: Kick off September with a well-deserved break! All MCPS schools and offices will be closed in observance of Labor Day.

Tuesday, September 23, 2025: Non-Instructional Day: Students and teachers will have a non-instructional day, meaning there will be no school for students and teachers.

Friday, September 26, 2025– Early Release Day: This will be an early release day for students. Be sure to check with your individual school for the specific early dismissal times, as they can vary by grade level and school.

Thursday, October 2, 2025– Non-Instructional Day: There will be no school for students and teachers. This offers another opportunity for school staff to engage in essential duties without student attendance.

Friday, October 17, 2025– Professional Development Day: This day is designated as a professional development day for staff, which means there will be no school for students.

Monday, October 20, 2025– Non-Instructional Day: Another non-instructional day means no school for students and teachers. This allows for further operational or planning needs within the school system.

Important Note for Arcola Elementary School Families:
Please remember that Arcola Elementary School (ES) follows its own calendar, which may differ from the standard MCPS schedule. If your child attends Arcola ES, it is crucial to consult the Arcola ES website or the MCPS website for their specific dates and any variations from the calendar listed above.
