The Rockville City Police Department (RCPD) has named Corporal Robbin St. Clair and Officer Samuel Kim as its latest Officers of the Quarter for their heroic response during a recent medical emergency that saved a resident’s life.
According to RCPD, St. Clair and Kim responded to a call involving a person who had potentially overdosed. Officer Kim quickly administered two doses of Narcan, while Corporal St. Clair performed CPR until EMS crews arrived. The department says the swift and decisive actions by the officers led to the individual’s survival. “The lifesaving actions of these officers exemplify the Rockville City Police Department’s unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our community,” said Chief West.
The recognition comes during Rockville Goes Purple, a citywide campaign to raise awareness of opioid addiction. RCPD highlighted that all of its officers carry Narcan, a medication that can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose, and are trained to use it when every second counts. In further support of overdose prevention efforts, RCPD announced it will offer free Narcan training to all Rockville residents in October. Details about these training sessions are expected to be released soon.
The department is encouraging community members to stay engaged with local initiatives aimed at combating the opioid epidemic, underscoring that preparedness and awareness can save lives.
