Buffalo Billiards, the popular Dupont Circle bar and restaurant that closed in 2019 after 25 years in business, is set to return to Washington DC.
The news was first reported by PoPville, which noted that a liquor license application has been filed for Buffalo Billiards at the former Source Theatre building at 1835 14th St. NW. Washington Business Journal later confirmed that co-owners Geoff Dawson and Curt Large purchased the property for $4.5 million and plan to reopen the venue in spring 2026.
Buffalo Billiards originally opened in April 1994 and quickly became a go-to spot for pool, sports, and casual dining before shutting down in August 2019. On its last day, the restaurant posted the following message on social media, “Founded by Geoff Dawson and Mark Handwerger, Buffalo Billiards opened its doors on April 1, 1994. In more than two decades since its opening, the establishment has sold 10,862,941 beers and recorded 1,721,748 games of pool. Additional milestones include 72,500 burgers consumed, 78,213 kegs emptied, 3,091 college football games watched, and 782 team members employed over the years.”
