The District of Columbia State Athletic Association (DCSAA) has announced a new policy that will change how students attend high school football games this season. Effective immediately, all DCPS and DC Public Charter School students must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in order to attend any regular season high school football game.
According to DCSAA, under the new rule, no student will be admitted into a game without a supervising adult present at the time of entry. The policy is being implemented for the entire 2025 football season and will be enforced at every game.
Officials say the goal of the change is to help ensure a safe and positive environment for athletes, students, and spectators. “We appreciate your cooperation in helping maintain a safe and positive environment for all athletes, students, and spectators,” the DCSAA stated in its announcement. The policy applies immediately and will remain in place throughout the season.
