Silver Spring Sichuan Bistro to Open in Former Vegetable Garden Space at Leisure World Plaza

Silver Spring Sichuan Bistro is set to open at 3830 International Drive in Leisure World Plaza, taking over the former site of Vegetable Garden. The restaurant is expected to open in mid-October, with details about a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be announced.

The new Silver Spring location will join Tea Horse’s Ellicott City restaurant at 8450 Baltimore National Pike, along with sister restaurants Orient Express at 3111 St. Paul Street in Baltimore and Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro at 11 Allegheny Avenue in Towson.

According to the restaurant, the brand traces its roots back twenty years, when Madame Wu and her family opened Orient Express in Baltimore’s Charles Village community. The restaurant grew a loyal following for its affordable and authentic Sichuan cuisine. In 2019, Wu expanded into Towson with Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro, which quickly became a dining landmark, followed by the opening of Tea Horse Sichuan Bistro in Ellicott City in 2023.

The Silver Spring location will mark the group’s fourth restaurant, led by Madame Ping Wu and Master Chef Zhang. Tea Horse says the new bistro will bring authentic Sichuan cuisine prepared in the classic Chengdu style to Montgomery County.

Wu, who is active in the community, is also known for her advocacy on women’s health issues.
