Song Dog Farm Distillery at 18100 Bucklodge Rd in Boyds will celebrate its grand opening on Sunday, October 12, in the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve, bringing locally made grain-to-glass spirits, a tasting room, cocktail bar, and year-round events to a 29-acre farm.
Founded by DC residents Megan Draheim and David Harris after more than a decade of planning, the distillery will produce bourbon, rye, gin, vodka, liqueurs, and ready-to-pour cocktails, with its flagship bourbon already earning a Silver Medal at the 2025 Heartland Whiskey Competition.
Song Dog will feature a 45-seat tasting room, a large porch, and open farmland for gatherings, picnics, and live music, along with locally sourced food, rotating food trucks, and family- and dog-friendly amenities. Its spirits program emphasizes local terroir, sustainable practices, and community engagement, with kosher certification and cocktails designed by Danny Childs, author of Slow Drinks.
The grand opening runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a ribbon cutting, free tours and tastings, food and cocktails for purchase, and a visit from Bluffing Goat Farm, whose cheeses are featured on the menu.
