Pedestrian Struck on Veirs Mill Road; Southbound Lanes Closed at University Boulevard

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) reported that a pedestrian was struck Tuesday evening near the 11100 block of Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton. The call was received at approximately 7:27pm and 4th District officers remain on the scene.

As of 7:51pm, MCPD confirmed that southbound Veirs Mill Road (MD-586) is shut down at University Boulevard (MD-193). Drivers in the area should expect delays and are advised to seek alternate routes.

Earlier, at 7:45pm, Alert Montgomery issued a Severe Traffic Alert noting that the incident had closed southbound Veirs Mill at University Boulevard and warned of significant delays.

Public safety reporter Cordell Pugh posted the following: “Tuesday, pedestrian struck & critically injured on Eastbound Veirs Mill Road (MD-586) near Ennalls Avenue and University Boulevard West (Wheaton/Montgomery County, MD). 🚑 Patient transported to an area Trauma Center with critical traumatic injuries.” No additional details have been released at this time.
