The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has released additional information about a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Sunday night in Kensington.
According to MCPD, detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating the death of 16-year-old James Evert Anderson of Kensington, who was struck while crossing University Boulevard West near St. Paul Street on September 21.
At approximately 9:14 p.m., officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 3300 block of University Boulevard West for multiple reports of a pedestrian struck. Anderson was located in the roadway and, despite lifesaving efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that Anderson was crossing the westbound lanes when he was hit by a 2023 white Nissan Murano traveling westbound. The investigation remains active, and detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the CRU at (240) 773-6620.
