Two Maryland communities, both in Montgomery County, have been recognized by Travel + Leisure as among the “10 Best Places to Live on the East Coast, According to Real Estate Expert.”
In the magazine’s recent list, Bethesda ranked sixth while Silver Spring came in at number ten, highlighting our state and county’s appeal as a desirable place to call home. The rankings, developed with input from real estate experts, considered factors such as livability, access to transportation, community amenities, and housing options.
Bethesda was praised for its blend of urban conveniences and suburban charm, strong schools, cultural offerings, and proximity to Washington DC. Travel + Leisure writes, “As far as housing goes, you have options. The housing options are diverse, whether you’re looking for a condo, townhome, or single-family home, and everything is close to D.C. and Northern Virginia.”
Silver Spring was noted for its walkable neighborhoods, diverse cultural scene, and relatively more affordable housing market compared to nearby communities like Alexandria, while still offering easy access to the nation’s capital. Travel + Leisure writes, “In terms of actually living in Silver Spring, it’s generally more affordable than somewhere like Alexandria and much less expensive than D.C. proper.”
The top three spots went to Charleston, South Carolina, nearby Alexandria, Virginia, and Gloucester, Massachusetts. The full list can be seen here.
