This year, Spirit announced it will expand its Spirit Christmas concept from 10 to 30 stores nationwide. One of the new locations will open this November at the former DSW Shoes site at 3009 Waldorf Market Place in Waldorf, MD. The store is currently operating as a Spirit Halloween.
Launched in 2024, Spirit Christmas is a seasonal pop-up concept by Spirit Halloween that offers holiday décor, apparel, decorations, interactive displays, and photo opportunities with Santa Claus.
In Montgomery County, Spirit Halloween is operating at 30 Grand Corner Avenue at Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront and at the former Party City space in Westfield Wheaton at 11160 Veirs Mill Road. Another location is planned for the former Buy Buy Baby space at 1683 Rockville Pike in Rockville’s Congressional Plaza.
Also for the holiday season, Toys”R”Us is continuing its comeback with the opening of a new flagship store at Arundel Mills in Hanover, MD, this October. The store will be part of a nationwide expansion by the iconic toy retailer, which is rolling out 10 new flagship stores and 20 seasonal holiday shops across the United States by year’s end.
