A celebration of Romanian culture, food, music, and spirituality will return to Potomac the weekend of October 3-5, 2025, as the Romanian Food Festival takes place at the property of the “Moldovita at Washington DC” Church, located at 9111 River Rd., Potomac, MD 20854.
The family-friendly event is free to attend, with freewill donations encouraged to support the completion of church site improvements, including parking and a stormwater retention system. Hundreds of volunteers will be on hand throughout the weekend to greet guests with the traditional Romanian phrases “Bine ati venit!” (“Welcome!”) and “Pofta buna!” (“Enjoy your meal!”).
Festivalgoers will enjoy authentic Romanian cuisine, including specialties such as mititei (skinless sausages), lamb pastrami, and sarmale (stuffed cabbage with meats). Romanian beverages and homemade pastries, lovingly prepared by parish volunteers, will round out the culinary offerings.
In addition to food, the festival will feature handicrafts, traditional folk costumes, and Romanian folk music, connecting guests with centuries-old cultural traditions. Beyond the food and entertainment, attendees are also invited to experience and explore the richness of Romanian Orthodox spirituality, which the church community warmly welcomes all to learn about and embrace.
Organizers say the event is not just a festival but a celebration of community. “Your presence will honor us and will bring to this edition of the Romanian Festival the uniqueness that only you, our supporters and guests, can give,” they shared in their invitation.
The Romanian Festival has become a beloved tradition in Montgomery County, drawing visitors from across the region to enjoy authentic food, music, and culture in a welcoming atmosphere.
