Niche, a national rankings and review site that analyzes schools and neighborhoods across the country, has released its 2026 list of the top private high schools in Maryland (top 25 available below).
The rankings are widely referenced each year by students, parents, and educators and are based on a combination of factors including academics, college readiness, graduation rates, teacher quality, and student and parent reviews.
Niche’s private high school rankings are calculated using a mix of statistical data and community input. The methodology draws on information from the U.S. Department of Education and self-reported data from schools, including metrics like SAT/ACT scores, student–teacher ratios, and graduation rates, along with college enrollment statistics. These are combined with millions of reviews from students, parents, and alumni to provide insight into academics, teachers, diversity, extracurriculars, and the overall school experience. Each school is assigned an “Overall Niche Grade” that reflects this blend of quantitative and qualitative measures.
School rankings are not definitive measures of quality and may not fully capture the unique strengths, culture, or opportunities available at individual schools.
