Palacio De Perú Opens First Montgomery County Location

Palacio De Perú has officially opened its first Montgomery County restaurant at 19222 Montgomery Village Avenue, in the Montgomery Village Center. The new eatery takes over the former Moe’s Southwest Grill space, which closed at the end of August 2024.

This marks an expansion for the Peruvian restaurant, which first opened in Laurel, Maryland, where it has earned a loyal following for its authentic flavors and hearty portions. Community member Mariana Lopez, who provided photos of the new restaurant, told The MoCoShow that she happened to walk by and see the team setting up. She and her family became the restaurant’s first customers and shared that “it was amazing!”

The restaurant specializes in traditional Peruvian cuisine, featuring dishes such as Lomo Saltado (stir-fried beef with onions and tomatoes served with rice and fries), Bistec a lo Pobre (steak with eggs, rice, fries, and plantains), Aji de Gallina (shredded chicken in a creamy pepper sauce), and Ceviche. Palacio De Perú is also known for its flavorful rotisserie chicken, available in quarter, half, or whole portions with sides like fried yucca, rice, beans, or plantains.

In addition to its savory entrees, the restaurant offers a selection of soups, salads, and seafood dishes, including fried fish and shrimp options. The Laurel location has received praise for its tender chicken and generous servings, and the new Montgomery Village restaurant is expected to bring the same level of quality and authenticity to the area.
