The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has released new details following a collision involving a child on a bicycle and a Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) bus on Thursday afternoon, October 9.
According to MCPD, officers and fire rescue personnel responded at approximately 3:13 p.m. to the intersection of Bauer Drive at Russett Road in Rockville where an 11-year-old girl was found near the rear of the bus and pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported among the students or the driver on the bus, which was carrying students from Earl B. Wood Middle School.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is leading the investigation, and MCPD says it may take several weeks to complete. The victim’s name will be released once available.
