Maryland’s 5 Safest Cities for 2025, According to NASDAQ-Traded AI Real Estate Platform

NASDAQ traded real estate and homebuying technology company reAlpha has released its list of the “5 Safest Cities in Maryland in 2025,” highlighting communities that combine low crime rates, strong local economies, and appealing quality-of-life metrics.

The AI-powered platform, which uses data-driven analysis to assist homebuyers and investors, identified areas from across the state as the safest places to live in Maryland this year, with one area in Montgomery County making the list and several receiving honorable mention.

According to reAlpha’s report, Hampstead earned the top spot with a violent crime rate of just 2.97 incidents per 1,000 residents, well below the national average. The Carroll County town also boasts a growing housing market, with median home prices around $230,000, making it one of the most affordable communities on the list.

In second place, Chevy Chase Village in Montgomery County is recognized for its consistently low crime rate of approximately 1.40 incidents per 1,000 residents and its reputation for strong community engagement and public services. While home prices are among the highest in Maryland, reAlpha notes that the area’s safety, schools, and walkability continue to make it one of the most desirable addresses in the region.

Sykesville took the third spot, with a violent crime rate of about 0.91 per 1,000 residents. Known for its small-town charm and historic downtown, the Howard County community has a median home price of roughly $452,500 and a median household income exceeding $120,000.

Coming in fourth, Bowie remains one of Prince George’s County’s most stable suburban hubs, posting a violent crime rate of 1.82 per 1,000 residents and a median home price near $488,500. The report highlights Bowie’s parks, schools, and family-friendly amenities as factors that contribute to its safety and livability.

Rounding out the top five is Mount Airy, which straddles Carroll and Frederick counties (along with a little bit of Montgomery County). With a violent crime rate of 0.61 per 1,000 residents, Mount Airy stands out as one of the safest communities in the entire Mid-Atlantic region. Its small-town atmosphere, proximity to major commuting routes, and lower housing costs have made it an increasingly popular choice for new homeowners.

reAlpha’s annual rankings use publicly available crime data and housing statistics to help homebuyers make informed decisions. The company, headquartered in Ohio, combines artificial intelligence and real estate expertise to guide users through the homebuying process. Its shares are publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the ticker AIRE.

While no other Montgomery County cities cracked this year’s top five, Potomac, Rockville, and Damascus all received honorable mentions for their low crime rates, strong public services, and community engagement. reAlpha noted that these areas continue to attract buyers seeking safety, convenience, and access to some of Maryland’s highest-performing schools.
