Update: Authorities later confirmed that the adult with traumatic injuries did not survive. The U.S. Park Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded Monday afternoon to a rescue on Billy Goat Trail A near Great Falls, where an adult sustained serious injuries after a fall.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, swift water crews from MCFRS and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue assisted in reaching the patient, who was transported by boat to EMS units staged at Old Angler’s Inn boat ramp.
