Rowan, a piercing studio staffed by licensed nurses, is opening this week in Gaithersburg’s Downtown Crown. The new studio will be the company’s third Maryland location, joining Bethesda and Annapolis, and its 95th nationwide. A Rowan representative said the store is expected to open by this weekend.
The new studio is located between Ideal Image and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Rowan specializes in ear piercings and offers a variety of styles, including hoops, studs, charms, threaders, cuffs, and more.
According to Rowan, all piercings are performed by licensed nurses using hypoallergenic jewelry made from premium materials such as 14K solid gold, gold vermeil, gold plating over sterling silver, and sterling silver.
The company was founded by Louisa Serene Schneider, who created Rowan to provide a safe, celebratory, and affordable piercing experience in a welcoming environment—an alternative to the limited and often intimidating options previously available.
