Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg continues to evolve after a period of vacancies approximately a decade after the development opened. Here’s a look at recent openings and upcoming arrivals that are reshaping the scene:
A Gaithersburg favorite is getting ready for a new chapter. Taco Bar El Güero, which closed its longtime home inside the Shell station at 10003 B Fields Rd earlier this month, is preparing to open its new restaurant in Downtown Crown this November. The upcoming location, at 200 Ellington Avenue, will take over the space that previously housed BurgerIM and Smashburger (sneak peek available below).
Sixty Vines, the Texas-based restaurant known for its wine-on-tap program and vineyard-inspired cuisine, has had a busy first week at its new Downtown Crown location in Gaithersburg. The restaurant officially opened on Monday, October 13, marking its first location in Maryland, and has seen heavy crowds every night since.

Rowan, a piercing studio staffed by licensed nurses, is opening this week in Gaithersburg’s Downtown Crown. The new studio will be the company’s third Maryland location, joining Bethesda and Annapolis, and its 95th nationwide. A Rowan representative said the store is expected to open by this weekend.
After a bit of a rough patch with the closure of Old Town Pour House in late 2023 and Paladar in mid-2024, Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg is gearing up for a busy fall and winter with several new businesses (including three new restaurants) on the way and the return of a popular local festival.

The restaurant is now searching for a general manager to lead the upcoming restaurant that’s taking over 212 Ellington Blvd– the former home of Pour House.
Sentinel Real Estate Corp. has made a significant investment in the DC Metro Area– acquiring two recently constructed multifamily buildings for over $317 million. Among these properties is Rockwell at Crown, formerly known as Aventon Crown, in Gaithersburg’s Downtown Crown neighborhood.
