Takoma Park’s Monster Bash Returns October 25 with Parade, Live Music, and Trunk-or-Treat Fun

The City of Takoma Park will host its annual Monster Bash on Saturday, October 25, from 1pm to approximately 4pm. The free community event, organized by the Takoma Park Recreation Department, will kick off in the parking lot of Takoma Park Middle School at 7611 Piney Branch Road.

From 1pm  to 2pm, attendees can enjoy a DJ, roving entertainment, a magic show, and a new Trunk-or-Treat experience before the parade and costume contest begin lining up at 2pm. The parade will travel down Piney Branch Road to Philadelphia Avenue, continuing to Maple Avenue in front of the Takoma Park Community Center, where the celebration will culminate with live music, games, and the announcement of costume contest winners. A local band will perform from 2:30pm to 4pm, and additional entertainment, selfie stations, and family activities will be available throughout the afternoon.

Several road closures will be in effect to ensure safety during the event. Rolling closures along Piney Branch Road and Philadelphia Avenue will take place between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., while Maple Avenue from Philadelphia to Lee Avenue will remain closed from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Residents in nearby neighborhoods may experience temporary access restrictions, and Metrobus and Ride On service will be interrupted on affected streets from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Police will direct traffic at key intersections, and detour signs will be posted in advance.

Organizers encourage attendees to walk, as parking will be limited. In the event of inclement weather, Monster Bash will move indoors to Takoma Park Middle School, and no road closures will occur. The city expects all streets to reopen by 7 p.m.
