Silver Spring’s Nyanya Touray Shines for Team USA at U17 World Cup

Northwood High School graduate Nyanya Touray (Class of 2025) is making her mark on the international stage as a member of the United States U-17 Women’s National Team competing in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Touray, now a standout player at Florida State University, has been a key contributor for Team USA, scoring one goal in Saturday’s match and adding two more on Tuesday, a breakout performance that’s earned attention from fans across the country.

Before joining the Seminoles, Touray played her freshman season for Northwood High School in Silver Spring before focusing on club soccer with Bethesda SC in the ECNL. Her combination of speed, technical skill, and composure in front of goal helped her rise quickly through the youth national team system.

2025 Florida State Highlights, per her player bio:

  • Has played in nine games with one goal for 276 minutes

  • Scored first career goal vs. Miami in 28 minutes played on October 3

  • Saw 26 minutes vs. NC State on September 21

  • Played 31 minutes against North Carolina on September 17

  • Took a season-high three shots against Syracuse in 37 minutes played on September 14

  • Attempted one shot in season-high 38 minutes played vs. Louisville on September 11

  • Played 33 minutes against Florida Atlantic on September 7

  • Took first career shot in 19 minutes of play vs. Stetson on September 4

  • Clocked a career-high 35 minutes against FIU on August 17
