Quince Orchard High School Evacuated and Dismisses Early Due to Water Main Break

Students and staff at Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg were evacuated from the main building early Friday afternoon following a water main break that impacted building systems, according to a message sent by school administration.

In a 12:13 p.m. update, administrators said Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) was on site assessing the situation. “Students are safe and are being supervised in the Cougar Dome. There is no active fire,” the message read. The school asked families not to come to campus at that time, noting that classes were paused while awaiting clearance.

At 1:20 p.m., the school provided a follow-up message confirming that dismissal would take place at 1:30 p.m. Walkers were set to be released at that time, with buses arriving to transport students home. “Students remain safe and supervised in the Cougar Dome,” the update said. “Families already on their way should park and follow staff directions for student pickup.”

Quince Orchard High School officials said they will continue to communicate any additional updates through ParentSquare, email, and the school website.
