A beloved North Potomac Halloween tradition continues as the Haunted Trail on Damson Terrace returns for its seventh year, this time with a new generation of hosts.
Original creator Trent Mettler, who launched the free neighborhood haunt as a middle schooler, is now a freshman in college. He’s passed the torch to his fifth-grade neighbor Tyler Carlisle and Tyler’s father Kurtis Carlisle, who have taken on the challenge of keeping the frightful fun alive. Trent’s father, Erik Mettler, is also helping ensure the spooky setup maintains its signature charm.
This year’s event, titled “6th Fear Presents: The Haunted Trail,” will run on Halloween night (Friday, October 31) and Saturday, November 1, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The trail, located at 14901 Damson Terrace in North Potomac, offers a roughly 10-minute walkthrough filled with eerie effects, jump scares, and creative decorations , all designed and built by local families and volunteers.
The Haunted Trail is free of charge and recommended for ages 5 and up. Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations, which will be collected on site to benefit local food programs.
