Upcoming Fall Events at Montgomery Parks

Cooler weather and the holidays are rolling in, but things are always hot and festive at Montgomery Parks. From meaningful moments of reflection to hands-on lumber shopping, a wedding showcase, and a Share Fair, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in November. Upcoming events below:

Remembrance and Reconciliation Weekend | Nov. 8 and 9 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Josiah Henson Museum and Park (Parking is located at Wall Local Park at 5900 Executive Boulevard, North Bethesda)

Commemorate Montgomery County Remembrance and Reconciliation Month with two days of family-friendly, hands-on activities at the historic Riley-Bolten House, lawn games, self-guided tours of the museum and grounds, and archaeology tours (Saturday only). Guests receive a complimentary copy of the book “The Life of Josiah Henson” or “Josiah Learns to Read: The Josiah Henson Story” (while supplies last). Presented in partnership with the Montgomery County Office of Human Rights. Free.

 

Urban Wood Sale | Nov. 15 | 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Green Farm Maintenance Facility (8301 Turkey Thicket Drive, Gaithersburg)

Shop for your next woodworking, home building, furniture repair, or craft project. Shop a selection of kiln-dried, planed, and air-dried pine, poplar, oak, beech, and more. Slabs range from 3/4” to 3” thick and $5 to $400 in price. Proceeds support Montgomery Parks’ Urban Wood Waste Recycling Program and Green Waste Recycling Program. Credit card purchases only. Free admission.

 

Brookside Gardens Fall Wedding Vendor Showcase | Nov. 16 | 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Brookside Gardens

Say “yes” to planning your dream day at our exclusive wedding showcase. Tour our gorgeous gardens and meet premier local vendors, from caterers to photographers, who are ready to bring your vision to life. Plus, enter to win exciting raffle prizes. Whether you’re newly engaged or finalizing the details, this is your one-stop wedding planning destination. Free.

 

Holiday Share Fair | Nov. 22 | 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Black Hill Discovery Center

‘Tis the season for giving. Clean out your closets and give gently used items a second chance at our second-ever Share Fair. Set up a display with your items or simply stop by to browse and “shop” for free. Prizes awarded to the most creative displays and unique finds. Visit the event page for more information and to register as a “Giver.” Free.
