A longtime staple of Bethesda’s dining scene has closed its doors. Woodmont Grill, located at 7715 Woodmont Avenue and formerly known as Houston’s, has officially ceased operations, according to a message posted on the restaurant’s website.
The notice reads: “Woodmont Grill is now closed. Thank you for choosing us as a dining destination and allowing us to be a part of your lives with many fond memories of good food and cheer. We hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again at one of our other restaurants.”
The closure marks the end of an era for the upscale American restaurant, which was part of the Hillstone Restaurant Group, known for concepts such as Houston’s, Hillstone, R+D Kitchen, and Palm Beach Grill.
Originally opened as Houston’s, the restaurant was rebranded as Woodmont Grill in 2008, but retained its signature menu and polished service that made it a popular choice for business lunches, family dinners, and date nights alike. Known throughout the years for its Hawaiian ribeye, rotisserie chicken, burgers, prime rib, live jazz performances, and more, Woodmont Grill had long been considered one of downtown Bethesda’s most consistently busy restaurants.
Hillstone Restaurant Group did not provide a reason for the closure, though the company’s statement encourages patrons to visit its other locations across the country (none remain in Maryland).
