Heartbreak has struck the Frederick County and Montgomery County community as the family of 13-year-old TJ Jackson shared on Tuesday that the young athlete has passed away following a sudden medical emergency suffered during a youth football game last Saturday.
According to a fundraiser for his family, TJ was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on the field and had been fighting for his life in the days since. His passing has left family, friends, teammates, and community members devastated. “TJ was a strong young man and we know God has his arms wrapped around him,” reads the message from his loved ones, who continue to be surrounded by support and prayer.
A GoFundMe, originally created by team mom Maria to assist with medical expenses, will now help TJ’s mother, Annette Brooks, and their family with funeral and related costs during this unimaginable time. “Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference and helps ease the burden on his loved ones so they can focus on honoring his memory,” the page states.
The community has responded with an outpouring of love, messages of condolence, tributes from teammates and coaches, and prayers shared across social media. Those wishing to support the family can visit the official GoFundMe page for TJ Jackson to donate or share.
