Takoma Park, MD and the Takoma neighborhood of Washington, DC are ready to celebrate the holiday season with a full lineup of festive events encouraging everyone to shop, dine, and celebrate locally.
The historic Takoma commercial district, known for its independently owned shops, restaurants, and creative community, will transform into a holiday destination filled with one-of-a-kind gifts, seasonal menus, and plenty of local charm. Holiday Event Highlights below:
Small Business Saturday & Holiday Market – Saturday, November 29: Takoma’s local businesses kick off the 2025 holiday shopping season with special deals and outdoor festivities. Laurel Avenue will become Market on the Street, an open-air marketplace hosted by the Takoma Collective and featuring local artists, makers, and collectors from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Pajamarama Holiday Shopping & Holiday Market – Sunday, December 7: Early risers are invited to shop in their pajamas and enjoy exclusive discounts from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Breakfast treats and a holiday market will follow from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Takoma Theater, hosted by Lost Sock Roasters.
Takoma Park Gift Market – Friday, December 12: The annual nighttime market returns from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with local art, handmade goods, cocktails, mocktails, cozy fire pits, free tarot readings, and a Craft Café hosted by The Green Room—creating a festive and enchanting atmosphere for evening shoppers.
Takoma Cocoa Crawl – Saturday, December 13: A community favorite returns with creative hot cocoa drinks, special menu items, and seasonal discounts at local shops from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Photos by Farrah Skeiky).
