Andy’s Pizza Looks to Open Soon in Kentlands

Permanent signage is now up for Andy’s Pizza, which will soon open at 145 Commerce Square Place in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood. The restaurant takes over the space formerly occupied by MOD Pizza, which closed in March 2024.

An employee at Andy’s Bethesda location tells us the Kentlands spot is expected to open within the next few weeks. Andy’s Pizza, founded by Bethesda native Andy Brown, is known for its 72-hour cold-fermented dough, baked in a traditional New York deck oven to achieve a crisp crust, chewy interior, and light, sourdough-like flavor. The menu also includes salads, wings, fries, and more, all designed around Brown’s “simple, quality-first” approach that helped the brand earn national recognition.

The Kentlands restaurant will be Andy’s second Montgomery County location, joining its Bethesda shop at 4600 East West Highway, which opened in September 2023 in the former Booeymonger space. Andy’s continues to expand across the region with additional restaurants in Adams Morgan, NoMa, Navy Yard, Shaw, and Northern Virginia.

The company is also planning another Montgomery County outpost, this one in the Westfield Montgomery Mall dining terrace, between Chipotle and CAVA. With construction nearly complete and signage in place, pizza lovers in the Kentlands won’t have to wait much longer to grab a slice from one of the region’s most talked-about pizzerias.
