Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded Tuesday morning to a reported house fire on Streamview Court in Potomac.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, working smoke alarms alerted the occupants, who were able to get out safely. Firefighters located two cats inside, both of which were unharmed. Officials determined the fire started in a basement office due to a space heater malfunction or being placed too close to combustibles. Damage is estimated at about $50,000. Two adults and two cats were displaced.
We will provide and update if additional verified information becomes available.
