Chicken Salad Chick Opening Second Maryland Location

Chicken Salad Chick is expanding in Maryland, with a new location planned for the Olney Village Center. The fast-growing restaurant, known for its Southern-style chicken salad, will open at 18209 Village Center Drive, next to Hallmark, in the space previously occupied by a karate studio.

Co-owner Carrie Tydings tells us, “We are thrilled to be bringing this awesome restaurant concept to Olney Village and can’t wait to share more as we get under construction. At this point, we are eyeing a March opening for this location.”

The Olney restaurant will be operated by franchise owners Jim Schleckser and Carrie Tydings, who both have deep roots in the community. According to Chicken Salad Chick, the pair is driven by a commitment to local connection, service, and hospitality. They have long been involved in private school and nonprofit boards, as well as youth athletics, and view the business as another opportunity to support the community they care about.

Chicken Salad Chick highlights that its core values of Spreading Joy, Enriching Lives, and Serving Others were a major reason Jim and Carrie chose to bring the brand to Montgomery County. They were drawn not only to the food but also to the company mission and saw the restaurant as a way to share something meaningful with their hometown.

As they prepare for the March opening, the owners say their goal is to create a warm and welcoming neighborhood spot where guests feel at home. From greeting customers with a smile to serving the restaurant’s signature chicken salad flavors, they plan to build a place centered around connection, kindness, and community.

The Olney location will be Chicken Salad Chick’s second in Maryland (Westminster location was first). More details, including hiring and opening week celebrations, are expected as construction progresses.
