Homicide of 20-Year-Old and Separate Shooting Under Investigation; Identity of Victim Released

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating two separate incidents that occurred in Fairland on Wednesday, November 19: a non-life-threatening shooting of an adult male who reported being shot near Aston Manor Drive, and a homicide in which 20-year-old Jadyn Mekhi Brown was found dead with gunshot wounds nearby.

Detectives have not determined whether the cases are related, and no arrests or charges have been announced.

According to MCPD, “At approximately 7:54 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched to the 3400 block of Robey Terrace for the report of a shooting. Responding officers located an adult male with a gunshot wound. The adult male reported that he had been shot in the area of Aston Manor Drive and ran to Robey Terrace, where 9-1-1 was called. He was transported to an area hospital alert and conscious.

While canvassing the area at around 9:06 p.m., K-9 officers discovered the body of an adult male in the 13800 block of Aston Manor Drive. The decedent, identified as 20-year-old Jadyn Mekhi Brown of Silver Spring, had apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives responded and are currently investigating both cases. It is too soon to determine whether the two incidents are connected.

Brown was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, November 20.

No arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed in connection with either the shooting or the homicide.
