Chief Antonio DeVaul from the Takoma Park Police Department has announced the arrests of: Luis Thompson-Jones, 21, of Washington, DC; Jesus Juarez-Posadas, 32, of Hyattsville, MD; and Joseph Arkong, 25, of Hyattsville, MD, for possesion of a stolen vehicle, theft, and multiple active warrants.
Per Takoma Park Police: On November 20, 2025, the Takoma Park Police Department responded to a reported theft from a local business on University Boulevard East. Earlier that morning, a delivery of three boxes containing 720 eggs, valued at more than $800, had been left outside the store and was taken by an unknown suspect.
Surveillance footage showed a gray Toyota Camry pull up to the business shortly after 7:20 am. An individual exited the vehicle, loaded the boxes into the car, and drove away toward University Boulevard East.
An officer who was investigating the incident, recognized the vehicle from an earlier patrol in the rear parking lot of a nearby hotel on New Hampshire Avenue. When officers returned to that location at approximately 2:09 pm, they located the same gray Toyota Camry. A registration check revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Metropolitan Police Department.
Takoma Park patrol officers and detectives established a perimeter. Officers observed a man exit a hotel room and enter the stolen vehicle. He was immediately detained, and several additional individuals were contacted inside the associated room. Three of the six individuals present were found to have active arrest warrants through Takoma Park and Montgomery County.
Further investigation connected two of the suspects to the earlier egg theft based on matching clothing and items recovered from the stolen vehicle. Officers also recovered suspected narcotics inside the hotel room.
Three individuals were arrested and transported to the Takoma Park Police Department before being transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Three others were issued trespass notices following interviews. The owner of the stolen vehicle was notified of the recovery.
This remains an active investigation. Charges include theft-related offenses, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of suspected controlled dangerous substances.
