Construction Set to Begin in December on Blohm Park Trail Improvements in Gaithersburg

Construction is scheduled to begin in December on a major upgrade of the trail system at Blohm Park in Gaithersburg. The project, contracted through the City’s Department of Public Works, will be completed by Highway and Safety Services, Inc., and is expected to take approximately three months, depending on weather conditions.

According to the City, the improvements will enhance the existing network of trails while adding several new features designed to make the park more accessible, educational and enjoyable for visitors once it reopens. Plans include the development of new naturalistic loop trails and trailheads, interpretive signage, and multiple seating areas overlooking the park’s restored stream corridor.

The project also includes a boardwalk wetland overlook, three fair-weather stream crossings, and rehabilitation of the park’s existing bridge and gazebo structures. These upgrades aim to better integrate the park’s natural environment with updated amenities while preserving its ecological character.

Blohm Park will be closed during the construction period for safety reasons, with access reopening once work is complete.
