Update: Major Rockville House Fire Causes Over $1M in Damage; Neighbors Launch Fundraiser

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a significant house fire in the 500 block of Mannakee Street in Rockville around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. Neighbors have launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to support the family affected by the blaze.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, firefighters arrived to find heavy fire engulfing all floors of the two and a half story single family home. Approximately 60 firefighters were on scene.

Piringer reported that the home sustained significant damage likely exceeding one million dollars. The fire appeared to have started in the rear area of the porch. The sole occupant inside the home at the time of the fire was able to escape unharmed, and a neighbor’s 911 call alerted first responders. No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters.
