Street Resurfacing to Begin Next Week in Takoma Park Following Washington Gas Line Work

Washington Gas will begin resurfacing several Takoma Park streets next week following the completion of recent gas line replacement work, according to an announcement shared by Takoma Park Police. The multi-day project will involve milling and paving across multiple neighborhoods and is expected to cause temporary traffic delays.

Resurfacing will take place on the following streets:

  • 7400 and 7500 blocks of Carroll Avenue
  • Intersection of Carroll Avenue and Ethan Allen Avenue
  • Lee Avenue
  • Manor Circle and South Manor Circle
  • Lincoln Avenue
  • Boyd Avenue
  • Sherman Avenue
  • Prince Georges Avenue
  • Elm Avenue

No Parking signs will be posted on the affected streets beginning Friday, December 5. Work is scheduled as follows:

  • Monday through Wednesday (December 8–10): Milling operations to remove the top two inches of asphalt
  • Wednesday through Friday (December 10–12): Paving operations
  • After paving: Temporary roadway markings will be installed, with permanent markings scheduled for spring when temperatures consistently exceed 50 degrees

Drivers should expect delays throughout the work period, as many of the impacted streets will be reduced to a single lane with flaggers directing traffic. Weather may impact the schedule.

Residents are encouraged to follow posted signs, adhere to parking restrictions, and allow extra travel time while construction is underway.
