Fire Damages Historic 1897 Home in Poolesville

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded Sunday to a fire at a two-story home built in 1897 along the 8900 block of Beallsville Road near Jerusalem Road at Muldoons Farm in Poolesville.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, smoke was showing on arrival, with fire located in a first-floor office area that extended to the second floor and caused significant structural damage. All occupants exited the home before crews arrived, and one person was evaluated for a minor injury.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down, but firefighters remained on scene for overhaul and investigation. A traffic advisory was issued for Route 109, which is closed between Jerusalem Road and Route 28, with lanes blocked during the response.
