Goodwill is set to take over the Rockville space that was most recently home to Planet Aid in the Montrose Shopping Center (the longtime home of MOM’s Organic Market).
The Planet Aid thrift store and donation center at 5520 Randolph Road closed its doors in September, ending its run at the location. At the time, a representative for Planet Aid said the closure was part of a planned move, with the organization actively searching for a new facility nearby. No new location has been announced since the Randolph Road site shut down.
Now, Goodwill has signed on to move into the space, continuing its footprint in the Rockville area. The nonprofit already operates another location just over a mile away on Boiling Brook Parkway, and a representative shared that the store will remain open.
It is not yet clear when the new Goodwill location will open, but the size of the store makes it likely that it will function as both a retail outlet and donation center. Additional details about any possible construction and an opening timeline have not been released.
