Popping up in different locations within the city of Columbia, Namit Filipino BBQ is a food truck that is brining traditional Filipino grilled meats and other classic Filipino fare to the greater Columbia area. Mr. 8 That recently visited the food truck on a weeknight outside of Black Flag Brewery; one of Namit’s consistent weekly locations.
Mr. 8 That rates every restaurant using two simple categories: price and taste, each scored on a scale of 1-5. Add the two scores together, and if a restaurant reaches a total of 8 or higher, it officially “8 that.”
Namit Filipino BBQ offers classic Filipino items such as Crispy Lechon Belly, Lumpia and sisig, while also offering combo platters containing a choice of BBQ meats with garlic rice and atchara. They also offer many filipino-inspired cheesecake flavors for a sweet treat.
Mr. 8 That “Both grilled meats had a nice char-grilled flavor, and the sweet sauce complimented both the chicken and the pork. Of the three lumpia options, the shrimp & vegetable option was the only one of the three I would get again. The Lechon belly had an audible crunch opon biting into it, while still retaining juiciness in the pork itself. The garlic rice was heavy on the garlic, but a little bit over. And the Calamansi cheesecake reminded me of a super bright Key-Lime pie, which was a great end to the meal.”
During his visit, Mr. 8 That tried the 6 piece Lumpia Sampler, Lechon Chicharon Platter w/Garlic Rice, Chicken BBQ Skewer, Pork BBQ Skewer and a Calamansi Cheesecake. He gave the flavor a 4.5 and the price a 4.2, leading to a final score of 8.7. That means Namit Filipino BBQ 8 That.
The restaurant also features traditional filipino dishes such as sisig, pancit, chicken inasal, beef brisket and pork bbq spare ribs for anyone looking for a flavorful introduction to Filipino cuisine.
