Construction is officially underway on Rosetta Bakery’s first-ever Maryland location, bringing the popular Italian bakery one step closer to opening in Bethesda.
Robert Dyer reports that work has begun at 4901 Fairmont Ave., the longtime Bethesda corner space previously home to Pitango, Tapa Bar, and Blackfinn. The upcoming bakery has already generated significant buzz locally, particularly among those familiar with Rosetta Bakery’s cult following in South Florida.
As previously reported, Rosetta Bakery is an authentic Italian bakery chain based in Miami, known for its artisanal coffee program and wide selection of baked goods. The menu typically features signature croissants, its well-known bombolone, focaccia, sandwiches, pizza, and a variety of desserts inspired by traditional Italian recipes.
One of Rosetta Bakery’s defining features is its open-kitchen concept. Guests can watch bakers at work through a glass wall while selecting pastries from expansive window displays. Locations are generally open from morning into the evening, offering grab-and-go options along with indoor and outdoor seating.
The Bethesda location marks Rosetta Bakery’s entry into the DC metro area and its first expansion into Maryland. While construction activity confirms progress, an official opening date has not yet been announced.
