First Look at Newest Sardi’s Location

Sardi’s is officially open in Rockville, and our very own “Mr. MoCo” Alex Tsironis stopped by to support the new location and bring you a first look (video below).

The restaurant is located at 5290 Randolph Road in Loehmann’s Plaza, taking over a familiar space that most recently housed Toosso Pakistani Kitchen and, before that, Boston Market. This marks Sardi’s fourth Montgomery County location, joining existing restaurants in Gaithersburg, Olney, and Takoma Park.

Tsironis shared his experience from the visit, and it lived up to the hype. “We had a FEAST,” he said. “My wife’s favorite was the salmon. Besides the chicken, I’m a big fan of the steak and cheese and the bang bang chicken.” The bang bang chicken, made with chicken thighs and the restaurant’s signature sauce, was also a standout for the group. “The bang bang chicken was my friend Lucas’ favorite,” Mr. MoCo added. “His son, just 13 months old, enjoyed the chicken and crushed the desserts,” he said with a smile.

Founded in 2008 by Montgomery County cousins Phil E. Sardelis and Phil G. Sardelis, Sardi’s has grown from a single Beltsville restaurant into a regional favorite with locations across Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The brand built its reputation on pollo a la brasa, the blackened rotisserie chicken that traces its roots to Lima in the 1950s. To ensure authenticity, the founders traveled to Peru to recruit chefs trained in traditional preparation methods.

Over time, the menu expanded to include classic Peruvian sides, fresh ingredients, and the signature sauces that have become synonymous with the Sardi’s name. Despite their Greek heritage, the Sardelis cousins were drawn to the warmth, flavor, and communal nature of Peruvian cuisine, shaping a concept that has resonated throughout the region.

Nearly two decades in, Sardi’s has served millions of customers and maintained strong community ties, including the Sardi’s Scholarship created in honor of co-founder Phil G. Sardelis to support students pursuing higher education.
