Popular Germantown Drive-Thru Dunkin’ Set to Reopen Following Renovations

The drive-thru Dunkin’ at the Fox Chapel Shopping Center in Germantown (19781 Frederick Rd.) is reopening soon, and the closure that sparked questions from local residents is only temporary.

A sign posted at the location confirms the Dunkin’ is closed for a remodel, with plans to reopen once renovations are complete. Several readers reached out after noticing the closure, concerned the popular drive-thru spot might be gone for good, but the work is part of an upgrade rather than a permanent shutdown.

During the remodel, customers are being directed to nearby Dunkin’ locations, including the Clarksburg store at 22610 Newcut Road. The Fox Chapel update comes as Dunkin’ continues a broader expansion across Montgomery County.

A new Dunkin’/Baskin Robbins is on the way to 898 Muddy Branch Road in Gaithersburg, taking over the former Starbucks space in Muddy Branch Square. In Derwood, construction is nearly complete at 17700 Muncaster Road, where Dunkin’ is converting a former child-care facility into a roughly 2,500-square-foot restaurant. On Norbeck Road in Rockville, Dunkin’ is moving into 4011 Norbeck Road, previously home to Sassy Cleaners. Another future location is planned as part of the redevelopment of Rockshire Village Shopping Center at 2401 Wootton Parkway, directly across from Wootton High School.

An exact reopening date for the Fox Chapel drive-thru location has not yet been announced, but the signage and ongoing activity indicate it should be back serving coffee and donuts in the near future.
