Montgomery Parks has reopened Sligo Creek Parkway, between Piney Branch Road and Wayne Avenue, following two months of closure for the construction of the Maryland Transit Administration’s Purple Line light rail project.
The Purple Line construction work included laying light rail tracks and reconfiguring the intersection with the parkway. During the closure, Montgomery Parks worked with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation to incorporate parkway improvements, including culvert replacements, traffic calming, signage, and guardrail repairs.
Parks is also rehabilitating Sligo Creek Trail, both north and south of Wayne Avenue, to tie into the new Silver Spring Greenway Trail.
