Robert Burton Back on DMV Airwaves, Joining FOX 5

Robert Burton is officially back on local television, joining FOX 5’s lineup in a move announced Tuesday morning on Good Day DC. The on-air reveal comes about a year and a half after Burton exited WJLA in July 2024 to spend more time with his family.

Burton had been a longtime presence on Good Morning Washington, where viewers came to know him as a steady, personable co-host during the station’s early morning hours. His departure last summer marked the end of a 10-year run at 7News, where he became a familiar and trusted face across the DMV.

A Chicago native, Burton joined WJLA in October 2014 as a sports reporter before transitioning into an anchor role on the 7News morning team in 2020. During his decade at the station, he helped cover major local, national, and international events, earning respect for his calm delivery and approachable on-air style.

The move to FOX 5 also brings a notable personal connection as Burton’s wife, Jeannette Reyes, previously worked at WTTG as a morning anchor before stepping away from local television news. With Burton now joining FOX 5, the hire represents a full-circle moment for the family.

Beyond the anchor desk, Burton has also been active in the community. In 2023, he launched “Reading with Robert,” a weekly initiative focused on recommending children’s books and reading to students at local elementary schools, blending his platform in media with a passion for literacy and education.
