Limon’s Gems & Jewels Building Sells for $1.1M Following Owner’s Retirement

Chris Vondas and Alex Alperstein of AdvisoRE LLC brokered the sale of the building at 7909 Norfolk Avenue, which officially closed Monday for $1.1 million. The property was sold to an investor.

According to Vondas, the decision to sell followed the owner of Limon’s choosing to retire, close the business, and move forward with selling the longtime family-owned property.

As previously reported, Limon’s Gems & Jewels is closing after more than 100 years in business, marking the end of a historic run for one of Bethesda’s oldest family-operated retailers. The jeweler confirmed it would stop accepting new work in early November and fully close by Thanksgiving, with limited availability afterward to complete existing orders.

The closure follows the retirement of Cliff Limon, a third-generation owner who spent more than 50 years in the jewelry business. Founded in 1920 by Jacob Limon, the shop became a Bethesda fixture after relocating there in 1968 and remained known for handcrafted jewelry, gemological expertise, and multi-generational family stewardship.
