After 70 Years, Marlo Furniture Will Permanently Close on December 28

Marlo Furniture, a longtime DMV staple, will permanently close on December 28, bringing an end to a 70-year run that began in 1955.

Back in August, we reported that Marlo Furniture would be shutting down all six of its locations, with a representative at the Rockville store confirming at the time that the company would “definitely be closing by the end of the year.” That timeline is now official, with the retailer confirming a final day of business on December 28.

As part of the wind-down, Marlo has been running major store-closing sales across all locations, including its well-known showroom at 725 Rockville Pike. Currently, Marlo is advertising that “no reasonable offer will be refused” when it comes to its remaining inventory.

Founded in 1955, Marlo Furniture became a household name across the DMV, known especially for its massive showrooms, often three times larger than a typical furniture store. The retailer built a loyal following by offering a wide range of styles and price points, serving generations of local families furnishing their homes.

With just days remaining until the final closure, the December 28 shutdown will mark the end of an era for one of the region’s most recognizable furniture retailers.
