Tako Grill has permanently closed after serving the Bethesda community for decades.
The restaurant, most recently located at 4914 Hampden Lane in The Shoppes of Bethesda, officially closed on December 14, 2025. Tako Grill first opened in Bethesda in 1988, building a long-standing presence in the local dining scene. Before moving to Hampden Lane, the restaurant operated at 7756 Wisconsin Avenue until February 2015. The Hampden Lane location took over the former Hinode space and had been in operation for the past ten years.
News of the closure was first reported by local blogger Robert Dyer. Tako Grill confirmed the closure in a message shared on its website, thanking customers for their years of support: “To Our Wonderful Customers, After many wonderful years, Tako Grill officially closed on December 14, 2025. We are deeply grateful to our community for your loyalty, support, and friendship throughout the years. It has truly been an honor to serve you. With sincere gratitude, Tako Grill.”
Known for its fast-casual Japanese-inspired cuisine, Tako Grill specialized in build-your-own bowls featuring grilled proteins, seafood, fresh vegetables, rice, noodles, and signature sauces. The customizable menu and quick-service format made it a popular lunch and dinner option for nearby office workers, residents, and visitors to downtown Bethesda.
No information has been released about what may replace the restaurant in the space.
