Terra Gaucha to Donate 300 Meals After Competitor Legal Action Delays Opening

Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse will donate 300 hot meals on Christmas Eve to Rockville police and fire stations and to neighbors experiencing food insecurity through a partnership with Shepherd’s Table. The meals will feature Terra Gaucha’s signature gaucho-seasoned grilled meats and will be delivered on Wednesday, December 24, at 3 p.m.

The donation follows a delayed opening of Terra Gaucha’s Rockville location after legal action from a competitor postponed its debut, prompting the restaurant to redirect prepared food to the community and avoid waste. Terra Gaucha is now scheduled to open its new Rockville restaurant on Sunday, December 28, at 1651 Chapman Avenue in the Twinbrook Quarter development.

The steakhouse marks Terra Gaucha’s first Maryland location and its debut in the DC region. Known for its traditional Southern Brazilian churrasco, Terra Gaucha features gaucho chefs who roast and carve wood-fired cuts such as picanha and ribeye tableside in a rodízio-style dining experience, along with a Gourmet Hot & Cold Table offering salads, cheeses, charcuterie, Brazilian sides, and desserts including its signature Papaya Cream.

Founded in Florida in 2015, the Brazilian-owned brand emphasizes quality, hospitality, and authenticity. “We are excited to introduce Terra Gaucha’s authentic flavors to Rockville,” said General Manager Stephanie Rizzon, noting the city’s diverse and engaged dining community as a key reason for choosing the location.
